Chicken masala

Ingredients:

chicken joints
finely chopped onions
chopped garlic
chopped ginger
turmeric powder - 1tsp
coriander powder - 2tsps
chilli powder - 1tsp
cumin powder - 11/2 tsp
garam masala - 1tsp
salt to taste
cooking oil - 4tbsps
tomatoes - finely chopped
green chillies - whole - 2or3
coriander leaves - finely chopped

Method:

Cut each chicken joint in two. Place the onion, garlic and ginger in a mixie and blend to a smooth paste. Heat the oil and add the blended puree/paste . Stir and fry for 2 or 3 minutes. Add turmeric, coriander, cumin and chilli powder and fry for 3 minutes. stirring frequently. Add the tomatoes. stir and cook for few minutes. Then add the chicken, stir and cook until chicken changes colour or 5-6 minutes. Add salt and water, bring to the boil, cover and simmer until the chicken is tender. Stir occasionally. And then add the whole green chillies and garam masala, cover and cook for few minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the coriander leaves. Ready to serve and eat. Serve with plain rice or chapathi.
