Fish Masala

Fish curry/masala:

Ingredients:
Pomfret or any fish- medium sized
1 onion - finely chopped
2 tomatoes - finely chopped
1/2 cup of coconut
1 onion for gravy- sliced and fried
garlic cloves - 2 or 3
ginger - 1 inch piece
few coriander leaves
tamarind pulp - 1/2 tsp
red chilli powder to taste
coriander powder-1tsp
salt to taste
oil-2 or 3tbsps

Method:

First wash the fish properly and then cut it into pieces. Then add little turmeric and salt and then keep it aside to marinate for some time.
For the gravy take coconut, coriander leaves, ginger, garlic,fried onion, tomatoes and coriander powder. Grind it finely.
Heat the oil in a pan. Add finely chopped onions and fry for few minutes or until the onions are golden brown. stirring frequently. Add turmeric powder and chilli powder and fry for 1 minute.Then add the ground masala and water. stir well. Add tamarind pulp and salt and mix well. Then add the fish pieces to it. Cook for 10 - 15 minutes or until the fish are cooked.Stirring occasionally. Stir coriander leaves and remove from the heat. Serve with plain rice or any fried rice or rotis.
